Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy uses ketamine in a therapeutic counseling setting to assist healing. KAP is an excellent tool to help drop the ego and more easily gain insight to issues, traumas, memories and false beliefs that could be standing in your way of living the life of your dreams. KAP requires a medical exam, prescription, pre-work and follow up integration sessions to process information gained while under the substance. Ketamine is considered a psychedelic controlled substance. It is legal.
Discovering Peace with Acudetox
Acudetox
AcuDetox is a treatment method that can provide symptom relief during the withdrawal management phase of recovery. This adjunct therapy entails the use of acupuncture to help reduce the severity of withdrawal symptoms, thus the name, AcuDetox.
A trained acupuncturist gently inserts the needles into the five regions in the ears. The needles are left in the ear for 45 minutes to an hour while the patient relaxes comfortably in a chair. Treatments can be offered in a group setting or individually.
Acudetox Benefits
The benefits will begin to appear minutes after the needles are inserted. This is due to the stimulation of the particular sites in the ear, which causes a release of the feel-good chemicals called endorphins. The person will feel a sense of calm come over them almost immediately.
AcuDetox has shown several benefits related specifically to substance withdrawal support. These include:
- Reduces substance cravings
- Reduces the severity of withdrawal symptoms
- Reduces symptoms of anxiety
- Reduces substance dependency
- Improves sleep quality
- Improves concentration
- Improves substance treatment retention
Acudetox Mental Health Benefits
In addition to the substance recovery benefits, AcuDetox has some mental health benefits as well. Many in recovery also struggle with comorbid anxiety, PTSD, or ADHD, all conditions that can benefit to some extent from auricular acupuncture.
Certain insertion points in the ear help produce an inner sense of quiet and peacefulness. This assists people with these co-occurring conditions by reducing the following symptoms:
- Hyperactivity
- Insomnia
- Panic attacks
- Fear
- Sweating
- Mood swings
- Attention deficit disorders

Birdsong is a self pay provider, meaning she does NOT accept insurance as payment and you will be required to pay at the time of your appointment
Therapy can be short-term, navigating a tough transition, or ongoing self-development; either way, it's going to take time.
Please note that beginning 1/1/2021 clients will be required to pay via cash, Venmo or credit card at the time of the appointment. HSA cards are also accepted.
2026 Fee Update
Beginning in 2026, my standard session fee for new clients will be $180.
Current clients will continue at their existing rate as long as they remain active in care. Clients who go more than three months without scheduling will return at the current new-client rate when they resume.

Deciding to open up to someone and share your deepest, scariest thoughts is not an easy thing to do. Within minutes of meeting Dawn, I knew that I had come to the right person who could help me at a time when I was not sure what to do. Dawn is not just a wonderful listener.
